Canyon Rim Sculpture Project ~ 2007

The Magic Valley Arts Council, in partnership with the Twin Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, Beautification Committee and Twin Falls Parks and Recreation Department, is facilitating the Canyon Rim Public Art Project to benefit the citizens of Twin Falls. This exciting project, to be located on the canyon rim at the Perrine Bridge Trail View Point - began with a national call to artists and request for proposals in September 2006. The request for proposals brought in responses from across the United States and included many from Idaho and the Twin Falls area. In November 2006, the project committee narrowed the field of choices to five artists whose projects truly reflected the landscape, geology and heritage of the canyon and our community. Finalists included David LaMure Jr. and Jason Hicks of Twin Falls; David Clemons of Coeur d’Alene; Lee Proctor of Big Fork, MT and Matt Weir of Louisville, KY.

In August 2007, the selection committee reconvened and selected David Clemons proposal based on community input and on the appeal of his proposal. Clemons proposal was approved by the Twin Falls City Council on August 27, 2007 and the artwork is scheduled to be completed in Spring 2008. This artwork will become a lasting legacy to our community that adds another dimension to an already beautiful location.
